LIGARE Base Flag Project
“POLYPHONIC REFLECTIONS”

by TOKYO PHOTOGRAPHIC RESEARCHNPO法人 大丸有エリアマネジメント協会（通称：リガーレ）とのコラボレーションによって、大手町・丸の内・有楽町エリアに計266枚掲出される新しいベースフラッグ『POLYPHONIC REFLECTIONS』を制作した。言葉のリサーチを都市研究コレクティブ・A NEW SCALE / 深井佐和子＋内田友紀が6名のリサーチャーと共にフィールドワークしておこない、ヴィジュアルリサーチでは写真家・村田啓が撮影した数千枚の写真をもとに実施。街を歩きながら発せられたさまざまな言葉から抽出した多声的（ポリフォニック）な｢ワード｣と、大丸有エリアの建築・空間・人々の姿や一瞬の光をとらえた｢写真｣が、デザイナー・石塚俊の手によってフラッグを舞台に響き合い（リフレクション）、街路に新たな風景を立ち上げた。

POLYPHONIC REFLECTIONS is a project to display 266 art flags in the Otemachi, Marunouchi and Yurakucho areas, in collaboration with TOKYO PHOTOGRAPHIC RESEARCH PROJECT and Ligare (OMY Area Management Association). A NEW SCALE participated in this project with the research and the texts. It will be displayed in the area for the next few years, except when advertisements are displayed.

We sampled many words from walking around the area with various people and finally narrowed it down to 16 different phrases. Each word and phrase has its own background and story, becoming a multi-layered (Polyphonic) voice that reflects the cityscape (Reflections). More information will be available soon on the Ligare website.

The design by @microtemporal is based on @kemrta's images of the area. Direction by @tokyophotographicresearch team led by @taisuke_koyama. The project was created by sharing the creative process with the people of OMY association. It was an exciting collaboration where research was translated into words and visuals, and expanded into the landscape.
